80 years ski area Seiser Alm

Celebrate with us the anniversary in the snow-covered Dolomites

The ski resort of Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi boasts 175 kilometres of slopes to suit every taste, and 80 cable cars for safe transportation: The ultra-modern cable cars are fitted with state of the art child safety equipment, and thanks to the sheer immensity of the ski resort, waiting times at the cable car stations are never long. The ski resort of Val Garden/Alpe di Siusi is the largest resort of the Dolomiti Superski area.

With its spectacular Dolomite panorama, the Alpe di Siusi is a constant source of delight for winter sports enthusiasts. Fun in the snow is the top priority here on the wide, sunny slopes of the resort and ski satisfaction a guarantee, for every skier.

It was exactly 80 years ago, in the winter of 1938/39, that the “Slittovia Joch-Panorama” sledge lift first opened. The first ski lift on the Alpe di Siusi was to be the foundation stone for the ski resort on Europe's largest mountain pasture. During the coming winter, we will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Alpe di Siusi ski resort!

The Alpe di Siusi was seen as the perfect ski resort even back in the days before lifts, when skiers climbed up to the mountain plateau with their skis. The first ski races were held in the area at that time.

The first lift on the Alpe di Siusi itself was the "Slittovia Joch Panorama” sledge-lift, which opened exactly 80 years ago in the winter of 1938/39. One year later the first ski lift, the "Mezdì-Lift,” began running, followed by the first chairlift, the "Monte Piz,” in 1949.

When the first ski school was founded, skiing became an accessible option for many more enthusiastic learners. Ski champions of legendary success, including Martin Fill, Hans Steger and his wife Paula Wiesinger, all stepped out on skis for the first time here.

The 21 modern mountain lift facilities of today are an evolution of the former facilities, their location unchanged. They offer adventurous outdoor fans the utmost in safety and comfort, and play an integral part in the unforgettable experience of skiing in the Dolomites.
